School Caretaker

We are looking for a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to join my clientsdiverse academy located in South London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the school’s facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment forour pupils and staff. This full-time position requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility.The hours of the role will be Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Day-to-day of the role:

Conduct routine checks and maintenance of the school buildings and grounds to ensure they are in good repair and safe for use.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and painting, as needed.
Oversee the cleaning staff and ensure the school is clean and well-presented at all times.
Set up and clear down spaces for assemblies, events, and other school activities.
Manage the security of the school premises, including opening and closing the building and setting security alarms.
Respond to and manage any emergency maintenance issues promptly.
Liaise with external contractors for specialist maintenance or repair work.
Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Experience in caretaking, facilities, or a similar role, preferably within a school environment.
Practical skills to carry out repairs and maintenance tasks.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to a school setting.
Strong communication skills to interact with staff, pupils, and external contractors.
A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to solve problems efficiently.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
