Job Description

Summary Have you got fantastic customer service skills Are you a creative individual who has a passion for volunteering and community partnerships Wed love you to bring your skills to the biggest conservation charity in Europe. With engaging stories to tell,theres always something to share with our visitors, and it will be you job to make sure were doing that all year round.This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 6 months. What its like to work here Youll be part of a Visitor Experience team of 3, working closely with the Visitor Experience Officer and Property Operations Manager, and a wider property team of 16. Youll lead a team of volunteers, and be the onsite Volunteering Lead supporting otherVolunteer Managers. Reporting to the Property Operations Manager, you wont have have any direct line management of staff, but management of over 30 volunteers.Set in the heart of rural Northamptonshire, Lyveden is a remarkable survivor of the Elizabethan age. Begun by Sir Thomas Tresham to symbolise his Catholic faith, Lyveden remains incomplete and virtually unaltered since work stopped on his death in 1605.Visitors can discover the mysterious garden lodge and explore the Elizabethan garden with its spiral mounts, terracing and canals.Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing As a Visitor Experience Officer, youll be responsible for the delivery of effective interpretation and engaging programming to deliver a year round offering of events at the property. Working alongside the Property Operations Manager, youll develop engagingand meaningful interpretation that can teach, move and inspire our visitors.Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key.As part of the Visitor Experience team youll help us offer a diverse and engaging annual programme of activities, including our Easter egg hunts and other family activities. Were looking for someone creative and innovative to evolve our programme to encouragerepeat and new visits, as well as fitting in with our Spirit of Place.You will lead on Volunteering and Community Partnerships, working closely with the Property Operations Manager to forge and develop partnerships to create new opportunities for our localcommunity. You will work with Volunteer Managers to improve the volunteering experience at Lyveden. As a champion of exceptional visitor experiences, youll join a friendly team and will regularly be involved in the duty management rota helping run the visitoroperation with a minimum of one in four weekends.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. Who were looking for Its a significant role at a busy property and we need someone who can take on a challenge. To deliver this role successfully, youll need to have:

  • Excellent people skills, with a flexible customer focused approach and experience in customer service
  • Experience of planning and working to multiple deadlines and managing own workload
  • Understanding of the aims and ethos of the National Trust
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including experience of producing interpretation
  • A hard working approach, be committed and a team player
  • Strong IT skills - Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media applications
