Job Description

The Buyer/Planner will manage the supply chain from external suppliers and internal manufacturing, to the customerwhile meeting lead time, cost, customer satisfaction and inventory metrics.Client DetailsIve exclusively partnered up with a market leading manufacturing business based in Oldham.A company which partner with businesses to provide top-class experiences that set new and innovative standards for consumer convenience, security and reliability.A highly innovative business which are excited to explore new ways to improve the everyday life of millions of people across the globe.By joining this business youll become a valuable part of an inclusive culture of collaboration and innovation with thesupport of over 2,000 associates working in one of their 15 offices across the world.DescriptionIn the multi-skilled position of Buyer/Planner youll play an integral role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and will be responsible for creating a detailed production plan to meet the customer demand, whilst ensuring a smooth flow of materialsfrom suppliers.Duties:

  • To manage the daily production schedule based on customer orders, availability of materials, and manufacturing capacity
  • Co-ordinate discussions between areas of the business to solve issues impacting the production schedule.
  • Ensure SAP accuracy of production schedule dates, Stock Transport Order (STO) dates and externally procured material delivery dates impacting Product Availability to allow Accurate Available to Promise (ATP) dates and Accurate Product Availability informationto various areas of the business
  • Supports Root Cause Analysis and implements sustaining corrective actions to improve On Time Delivery to our customers
  • Update product availability dates in system so that this information is available to customer through SAP; ensuring concise communication to customer service representatives
  • Execute on exception messages for production orders, making sure all stakeholders are informed of any changes and adhering to Customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Liaise with customer service representatives to understand existing and future demands and manage forecasting via the SIOP process
  • Effectively communicates plans and forecasted requirements to internal stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Review plans with Value Stream Leader to ensure efficient resource allocation and usage
  • Support meetings supplying relevant data, provide updates on plans and highlight concerns relating to actual or potential issues
  • Escalate any critical supply issues to Material Strategic Sourcing Specialists, particularly when there is risk which could prevent the organisation meeting customer demands
  • Work with Value Stream Leader to overcome capacity concerns
  • Prepare and maintain statistics to share with internal stakeholders and provide information as required in relation to organisational metrics and updates
  • Converts purchase requisitions to purchase orders and follows the "Create, Confirm, Push, Pull" Purchase Order Management Process and works with the Strategic Sourcing Specialist to cancel any materials no longer required for production.
  • Fully accountable for managing exception messages on materials; making sure we only bring in what we need and at the right time.
  • Ensures quick resolution of shipping discrepancies, purchase price variance issues, goods receiving errors and invoice errors with external suppliers, stores management and finance functions
  • Works with Strategic Sourcing Specialist to report accurately Supplier On-Time Delivery and improve performance.
  • Supports the End Of Life strategy for products, working with the Strategic Sourcing Specialist to ensure we mitigate any risk to Excess & Obsolescence
  • Maintains Master data in SAP, Safety Stock, Minimum Order Quantity, Lead Time and Kanban Sizing.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives through the business System within Supply Chain, by participating projects, JDIs, Kaizen events, focusing on Material Replenishment Strategy and PFEP (Plan for every part) to ensure we right size inventory holdingon site, driving inventory turns and providing further benefits in terms of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth to the business.
ProfileThe skills required to be successful in the Buyer/Planner role are below:
  • Knowledge and experience of using SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Experience in a capacity planning role within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of capacity/forecasting modelling and planning.
  • Commitment to work towards professional accreditation with an industry related body
  • Effectively priorities and manages workload with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, is focused on the detail and delivers results
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Action orientated, with a high sense of urgency to complete tasks in a speedy and timely manner, meeting deadlines and targets consistently
  • Good IT systems knowledge and skills including Excel and the ability to learn new software packages
  • Knowledge of production/manufacturing processes and lead times
  • Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Numeracy, statistical and reporting skills with the ability to analyse, interpret and manage information, data and trends
