  1. Innovative Design Leadership: Take charge as the design authority for new and existing products, focusing on copper, stainless steel, and aluminium powder in Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing. Lead the way in engineering innovation.�
  2. Enhance Product Efficiency: Assess current designs and apply your engineering expertise to improve functionality, reduce costs, and aid manufacturability. Your role is critical in driving product excellence.
  3. Material Development & Testing: Play a key role in developing and applying materials in powder form for advanced manufacturing processes. Your insights will be pivotal in material performance evaluation and improvement programs.
  4. Collaborative Project Involvement: Actively participate in R&D, localisation, and business initiatives. Your contributions will help shape the future of ABBs technological advancements.
  5. Problem-Solving and Innovation: Address technical challenges with creative solutions, such as material redesign or substitution. Your innovative approach will contribute to sustainable and efficient products.
  6. Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate closely with manufacturing and sourcing teams. Your involvement in trialling new materials and processes will be key to ABBs global procurement strategies. �
Profile� Ideal Candidate Profile for R&D Engineer at ABB:
  1. Educational Foundation: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field. �
  2. Relevant Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the industry, with a focus on engineering and product development.
  3. Design and Improvement Skills: Ability to interpret customer specifications and execute design improvements. Strong skills in assessing and enhancing product efficiency.
  4. Material Science Knowledge: Experience with metals and plastics in manufacturing processes. Familiarity with Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing.
  5. Innovative Mindset: A drive to constantly innovate and improve processes, applications, and materials.
  6. Supplier Evaluation Expertise: Skills in selecting and evaluating potential suppliers for quality and reliability.
  7. Tooling Design Experience: (Desirable) Background in designing tooling, preferably for powder metallurgy.
