Job Description

Here at Encircle Solutions, we are looking for a Junior IT Support Engineer to join our small team. Our core mission is to enable our clients to capitalise on the wealth of open source solutions available, such as Linux, Wordpress, Drupal & CiviCRM.We require a confident self-starting IT Support Engineer to join our virtualised help desk team via remote working in order to support our clients extensive portfolio of digital services.Our clients digital services are typically built upon OSS components such as Linux, Nginx, Mysql & PHP. Currently, the majority of our cloud estate consists of Open Source CMSs e.g. Wordpress & Drupal.This role is a 1 year fixed term contract.Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day support of existing array of cloud based services, primarily 1st and 2nd line support
  • Triaging customer support requests via Encircles online support portal and dedicated telephone line.
  • Monitoring systems for events such as security and system health alerts.
  • Keeping systems up to date with the latest security patches.
  • Arranging and performing scheduled maintenance on systems when necessary.
  • Commissioning cloud based digital services for clients, including assisting with pre-sale proposals and system documentation
  • Engaging in business & service level improvement activities as guided by the Technical Director
  • Working within and also maintaining Encircles ISO27001/9001 compliance framework
Skills Required:
  • Demonstrable Linux Admin skills focused on supporting cloud based virtual machines via ssh and similar tools.
  • A keen appreciation of security best practices for cloud services: patching, firewalling, auditing, pen-testing, monitoring and alerting, etc
  • Working knowledge of providing IT support within a management framework such as ITIL, PRINCE, ISO27001 or similar
  • An intimate level of understanding of the inner workings of the HTTP protocol - especially with regards to NGINX
  • A strong familiarity with HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • A working level of knowledge of DB Administration with either Mysql, Postgres or SQL Server
  • A working level of knowledge of source control best practices using Git
  • Experience with building and/or supporting Drupal and/or Wordpress sites would be a definite advantage
  • Experience with CiviCRM would be an advantage
  • Ability and willingness to cut PHP, Python, Bash scripts would be a strong advantage
  • Any experience with Microservices e.g. Docker, Kubernetes would be useful
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
  • Will require full security vetting upon commencement
