Head of Engineering Nottingham - Salary Negotiable Hours - Monday to Friday 37 hours per week Head of Engineering / Transport Functions / Senior Engineer / Maintenance, Service & Repairs / ManagementThe recruitment group are priding ourselves on working alongside one of the top 5 Companies to work for in Nottingham as their Head of Engineering, where you would be responsible for managing over 250 Vehicles across 2 sites, and have 6 direct reports.The successful candidate will have full responsibility for maintaining the highest service standard for the companys fleet of buses and ancillary vehicles including environmental efficiency, maintenance, and legal compliance issues in accordance with prescribedpolicies and current legislation. You will also develop engineering activities ensuring best practice is adopted and the engineering undertakings of the companys Operating License are always adhered to.The Benefits of the Head of Engineering . Responsibility for the availability of a safe, legally compliant and roadworthy fleet of vehicles and to ensure there are sufficient vehicles available to meet service requirements including the driver training fleet and spare vehicles. . To oversee the Company MOT Test Programme liaising with the DVSA as required and manage the refurb team ensuring completion of refurbishments, repaint programmes and repair following major accidents. . Responsibility for compliance with engineering and cleaning standards following Company policies and procedures and conducting regular quality checks. . To ensure that all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to the engineering function are carried out and legal compliance is maintained - including safety, environmental and energy conservation matters/activities. . To have overall control of the Engineering Divisions workforce, maintaining staffing levels according to fleet and Company requirements and to meet set targets and key performance indicators, including the recruitment of new personnel. . Ensure compliance with the Companys HR procedures, including the disciplinary, grievance and sickness/absence procedures, continually monitoring attendance to reduce sickness absence. . Identify and action staff training as required and attend and participate in meetings, training sessions as required and conduct toolbox talks with Engineering staff, developing effective communications with all operational personnel and engineering staff. . To have maintenance and cleaning responsibility for all plant, equipment and vehicles ensuring compliance with current Company and Department for Transport (DVSA) standards, adhering to the Company vehicle inspection programme, planned maintenance programmeand the undertakings specified within the Companys Operating Licence. Key Skills for the Head of Engineering. Previous experience successfully managing a large engineering operation (250 + vehicles across multiple sites) . Strong knowledge and understanding of the statutory duties and regulatory requirements of managing and maintaining a fleet of buses and auxiliary vehicles. . Vehicle procurement - experience working on fleet replacement, liaising with manufacturers and suppliers to procure new vehicles and dispose of old fleet vehicles . Excellent project management skills, with experience managing complex engineering projects . Qualified as a Transport Manager with a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Passenger Transport . Fully conversant in using digital fleet maintenance systems . Extensive knowledge and experience in managing change including strategy, infrastructure and operational restructuring, and performance improvement. . Excellent people management skills with the ability to build and maintain credible and strong professional relationships at all levels. .
