Job Description

Due to growth a multi site retailer of tools and DIY equipment is recruiting for a Credit Controller to join their Head Office Accounts team in the city centre of Nottingham!This is a permanent Credit Controller position working Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (37.5 hours per week) offering a salary of £22,000 per annum plus benefits as below and is office based.As Credit Controller you will form part of a team of 3, providing administrative support to the credit control department. Your role will involve the following:

  • Open new credit accounts based on the credit criteria determined by the Management Accountant and in accordance with credit checks carried out via the nominated agency
  • Post sales invoices to the ledger, through matching stock notes and price checking
  • Raise and post credit notes and manual invoices
  • Process cheques and BACS payments received on a daily basis
  • Active payment collection through either telephone chasing, letter cycle or via the County Courts.
  • Arrange for debt recovery letters to be sent for bounced cheques, charge backs, or undercharges incurred by the store network.
  • Post journals and allocate transactions as required on a daily basis
  • Log ledger numbers for store ledger sales
  • Log and chase Mail Order ledger invoices
  • Deal with customer and store queries as they arise on a daily basis
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
  • Previous experience in a Credit Controller role ideally, although if you have previous administration experience with a good telephone manner and are able to build rapport easily this will be considered too
  • Proven experience in a telephone based role is essential as you will be on the phone majority of the time chasing payments or liasing with the retail stores across the UK answering their accounts queries
  • IT literacy is essential with basic knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Organised, willingness to learn and tenacious are all key qualities required in this role
