There will be plenty of opportunities to explore your potential and you’ll enjoy full support from the team. You will be required to ensurethat you adhere to safe working practices and also be able to take instructions and act upon them in a prompt and professional manner.

  • Based at our Nottingham production facility, youll learn key concepts related to all products and equipment for our Global Marine and Navy department.
  • Youll collaborate on projects with the broader engineering team, spread across our four UK production sites.
  • As you progress, youll gain a broad understanding of various roles, spending time in projects, production sales, and site services.
  • Youll learn the concepts of design and engineering drawing in 2D AutoCAD.
  • Youll enhance your knowledge in testing and configuring systems and using production software.
  • Once youre familiar with Johnson Controls products, youll have the opportunity to transition to our projects department and work on large-scale projects.
  • Youll work with suppliers to ensure everything is manufactured and tested correctly.
  • With familiarity in our products and systems, youll be given the chance to participate in our large-scale projects.
  • Youll work closely with the wider engineering team and assist in project estimation.
How you will do it:
  • On-the-Job Work Experience: Youll spend significant time putting into practice skills learned at college, giving you the opportunity to learn by doing as you progress through your apprenticeship.
  • Collaboration with Qualified Mentors: Throughout your apprenticeship, youll work closely with qualified Johnson Controls employees who will serve as mentors, guiding you in developing your skills. This collaborative environment ensures that you receivethe support and guidance needed to succeed in your role.
  • Opportunities for Growth: Throughout your apprenticeship, youll have the opportunity to grow and apply the skills and knowledge gained in college in a real workplace setting. This experiential learning approach ensures that you develop both technical competenciesand practical skills essential for success.
Qualifications:
  • You will be enrolled on a three year level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship, delivered by our training partners West Nottinghamshire college.
Requirements for the role:
  • GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 5)
  • GCSE or equivalent in Math’s (Grade 5

What happens next
  • Suitable candidates will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position and provide necessary documentation. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre in May, where they will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team,and have an interview.
  • Within 48 hours of the assessment centre, candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can begin the apprenticeship on September 2, 2024.
