Job Description

Serve Talent have partnered with a successful Engineering business to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for their manufacturing facility based in Norwich, Norfolk.Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To manage projects and the design process from start to finish competently.
  • Mentor and manage junior Draughtman.
  • To maintain and improve the quality of the company products and systems within the drawing office;
  • Support meetings with attendance and reports as required;
  • To respond, as necessary, to technical queries raised by other departments and suppliers;
  • To aid Sales, Project Management and Service in customer support;
  • To aid Planning Department to generate Works Orders and produce routings, when required.
  • To work the hours necessary to carry out the necessary duties. This will entail working a reasonable amount of overtime as and when required;
  • Carry out other tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Line Manager;
  • Compliance with Health and Safety procedures and good housekeeping.
Education / Qualification Requirements:
  • HNC Level 4 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience and Knowledge Requirements:Essential:
  • Proficient in both 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Experience with Solidworks.
  • Experience and an understanding of BS8888;
  • Experience of the manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in the design of capital equipment (preferably rotating equipment).
Desirable:
  • Experience in designing products for Ex hazardous areas.
Skills and Competency Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal and cross-functional working skills;
  • Capable of prioritising, planning and organising effectively in order to achieve objectives;
  • Highly self-motivated with a genuine desire to succeed and help move the business forward;
  • Confident with Microsoft Office packages;
  • Own strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
