Job Description

Our beliefin people and what they can achieve.Your role at Orbit.We are delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit a Place Area Lead on a permanent basis. In this role you will be responsible for the effective development and delivery of Local Place Plans that support the delivery of our Thriving Community strategyand targets as well as meeting our mission and aspiration to lead in building thriving and empowered communities.Your key duties will be to:

  • Lead on planning, coordinating and overseeing delivery of local activity within a defined geographical area
  • Lead on the development and implementation of strategic local plans
  • Lead on local Place Quality Assessments within the area, working alongside colleagues on a taskforce approach
  • Co design and commission projects by engaging with customers, local partners, Orbit teams and analysing data.cts
  • Contract management of commissioned local services, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Identifying and securing external funding for local projects though direct and joint funding applications
  • Deliver and report on compliance to external funders where external project funding has been achieved
  • Responsible for local external stakeholder mapping and developing and managing strategic partnerships
  • Manage the day to day operations of the community hubs including development of services and customer engagement
  • Develop and manage local employee, customer and partner volunteering opportunities
  • Lead on local communications, marketing and customer engagement
  • Provide information advice and guidance and customer referrals into Better Days and external services
  • Manage a local budget, including accurate forecasting and ensuring value for money
  • Staff management of Community Connectors
What will help you make a difference.To be successful in this role of Place Making Area Lead you will need to have previous experience of community field based development and regeneration work. You will also need to have previous experience of customer engagement theory with a track recordof increasing customer engagement.It is also essential that you have:
  • Experience of leading the work of the team
  • Strong ability to relationship build across geographies with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of design, commissioning and implementation of local service delivery based on identified needs
  • Good standard of IT literacy and proficiency
  • Experience of successful budget and contract management
  • Ability to present and write reports
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering against an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda
  • Ability to work outside of standard hours when required
  • Must be willing and able to travel when required
