Job Description

Our client is at the forefront of innovative cancer care with their UK network of cancer centres. They provide the most suitable, state-of-the-art cancer treatment and an exceptional level of care to every patient. The centres deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging and the latest in advanced cancer treatments including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and, in the future, proton beam therapy across all centres.To date, our client has three cancer centres open, two of which currently offer access to proton beam therapy, and a further four new centres planned in the next four years making a total of eight cancer centres around the UK. Their aim is to provide the majority of patients with a state-of-the-art cancer centre within a ninety-minute journey of their front door, wherever they are in the UK.Job PurposeThis role will require you to be the first to respond to critical incidents, change coordination, system administration, monitoring and alerting on a 24x7x365 basis. This role will be responsible for the availability, performance and overall reliability of the IT platform. Additionally, providing Network Security operations services to all clients as required.The Successful candidate: ESSENTIAL

  • The successful candidate must demonstrate a minimum of three years hands on’ experience running networks for a company.
  • The successful candidate must also hold a CCNP certification, or alternatively hold a CCNA certification with two specialisms (Desirable)
  • This role will be home based, with associated travel around the UK. Therefore the successful candidate must hold a Full UK Drivers License and be willing to attend sites when required.
  • Main duties and responsibilities
  • Candidates will be expected to take ownership for and provide priority support to all client systems, ranging from critical incidents to proactively working on preventative measures by learning and questioning the status of the platform, taking ownership and ensuring issues are not forgotten following resolution.
  • You will be required to document and share Incident resolution knowledge within the team.
  • You will be working closely with the Project and Technical Engineering teams to ensure applications are understood and that Continuous Delivery activities are carried out in a safe and timely manner.
  • You will be encouraged to apply your own experience and learning, providing a fresh approach to problem solving and process improvement. We would like you to think outside the box, coming up with innovative and unique solutions pushing the bar higher each time.
  • Additionally, you will need to:
  • Manage and troubleshoot incidents including Network Security, Network Equipment.
  • Liaise with third parties to ensure that faults are resolved within the agreed SLAs.
  • Implement changes and new configuration within the change management framework.
  • Update and maintain process documentation as required.
  • Contribute to technical lifecycle projects (Security patch management, equipment replacement/upgrade, environment health checks).
  • Respond to alerts according to event and incident management processes.
  • Improvement of monitoring and reporting solutions.
  • Travel within the UK will be expected, and a full driving license required.
  • Hours:
  • Cover core UK operational hours as required
  • Provide out of hours cover on a rotational basis
  • Work overtime when required and approved
  • Be willing to work some public holidays in return for overtime or time in lieu
