Job Description

Laboratory Team Leader required for a specialist technology organisation based in Northamptonshire and supporting a range of industry sectors.This position will be based in a department dedicated to chemical and analytical testing and will involve:

  • Supervising the laboratory team
  • Team performance management
  • Driving continuous improvement with systems of work and team members
  • Managing the workflow through the lab with emphasis on customer focus and awareness
  • Working with Team Leader and Technologists to establish deadlines and allocate testing
  • Ensuring lab work is in accordance to quality and health & safety systems
  • Organising / authorizing purchases of lab consumables and chemicals
  • Working with Head of Department to create, implement and review staff training plans
  • Ensuring good housekeeping in the laboratory and storage areas
  • Applications are invited from candidates with the following qualifications / experience:
  • A level in a science related subject essential and, ideally, mathematics
  • In-depth knowledge / experience of testing carried out in a Chemistry Lab
  • Experience of working in a supervisory role with the ability to lead and inspire a team
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communications skills
  • Logical and methodical approach with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Highly motivated approach with the ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication with good computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Desirable skills / qualifications:
  • Degree in Chemistry or similar Science based subject
  • Familiar with chemical instrumentation ie: GC-MS, HP-LC, ICP, FT-IR, UV-Vis etc
