Wholetime firefighter and firefighter transfereesClosing date: 21/06/2020Salary: £ 23,366 (Trainee) £24,339 (Development) £31,144 (Competent)Job description:YesYou CanBe part of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.The transfer of governance to North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner in November 2018 ushered in great and exciting change for the Service.   • Day crewed fire stations (Ripon, Malton, Tadcaster, Selby and Whitby),
  • Self Roster fire stations (Northallerton and Richmond) and;
  • Shift fire stations (Acomb, Huntington, York, Scarborough and Harrogate).
  • TransfereesTo be eligible for a transfer you must be a current, substantive firefighter and be competent in role by an External Accredited NVQ Level 3 (Emergency Fire Services Operations in the Community) or Operational Firefighter Apprenticeship.Age requirementsAnyone aged 18 or over can apply to become a firefighter; but candidates must meet all the requirements of the role. The application process is open to those who are aged 17 years and 6 months.Duty SystemsDay Crewed and Self Roster stations operate a duty system where firefighters work shifts of 8am-6pm and then remain on call overnight to respond to incidents as required. As such, Firefighters appointed to these stations must reside within four minutes of their station, during on duty periods, in order to meet their on-call responsibilities.The Day Crewed pattern is four days on duty and then days four off with an average of 42 working hours per week. Additional allowances are payable in respect of the on-call requirement.The Self Roster shift pattern requires the same number of average hours and shifts to be worked but there is no set pattern of shifts.Shift stations are crewed 24/7 by firefighters who work shifts of 8am-6pm and 6pm-8am. The shift pattern is two day shifts, two night shifts and then four days off.What we offer in return:
