Our client specialises in high end electronics.Through their friendly and flexible approach, they tailor their products to suit theever changing and individual needs of their customers. Our client has over 50 years experience in the electronics industry.THE ROLEThe purpose of the role is to create designs to clients’ specifications that enable the business to provide the highest standards of manufacture, cost effectiveness, efficiency and customer service.Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and impact of their specification in the development of a design.Assessing customer requirements and ensuring that these are met throughout the design and manufacturing processes.Acting as a catalyst for positive change and improvement in product development and innovation.Developing valuable new Intellectual Property for the business and its customers where appropriate.Writing design specifications and reports for internal and external customers as required.Ensuring that design processes comply with required standards at both national and international levels.Ensuring that all design development and product testing is recorded via the IT Workflow System and fully complies with the Quality Management System.Proactive and effective analysis of product features and designs that could be improved and development of these working collaboratively with colleagues across the business.Working in collaboration with the wider Technical and Production teams within the business to innovate and solve problems and challenge creatively.Deputising for the Technical Director in his absence, primarily as the ‘Authorised Person’.Contribution to the wider team effort by accomplishing related results and providing appropriate support as needed.THE PERSONGood academic track record with a degree or postgraduate qualification in electronics, or a related subject.A minimum of 2 years’ experience required in, or assisting in, a similar roleExperience of designing both analogue and digital circuitsExperience with MicroChip and ATMEL MicrocontrollersExperience of designing Intrinsically Safe Equipment would be an advantageExperience with AutoCAD, EasyPC and Solidworks or similar platformsAn ability to understand business/commercial issuesProven team management/leadership skillsProven track record of meeting relevant compliance targets.Excellent organisational and efficient administrative skills with ability to prioritise.Proactive, dedicated, enthusiastic with a ‘can do’ approachDedicated to driving business growth, and efficiencyEnjoys setting exemplary standardsA strong team player with the ability to influence at all levels of the business in order to achieve business goalsA strong, flexible and effective problem solver, who is able to use and adapt processes to find solutionsA lateral and logical thinker who champions innovationEffective interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated with an ability to work autonomously and take responsibilityA flexible attitude and willingness to complete tasks within timescalesUnderstanding of ATEX enviromnentsTO APPLYPlease send your updated CV to Tony Hutchinson or apply direct by calling Westray Recruitment Group
