Job Description

Sirona Medicals Social Work Department are recruiting for a Safeguarding Adult Practice Consultant.The Adult Safeguarding Team require support to undertake requests for safeguarding consultations. The team is Countywide, made up of 18 staff includingtwo team managers. The team covers all Adult Social Care disciplines such as Learning Disability, Mental Health, Older People and Physical Disability.

  • The team is responsible, amongst other things, for providing consultations which give guidance and support on adult safeguarding concerns that are raised with Adult Social Services.
  • This is the area of our work which we would like you to undertake and support us with. In order to undertake these consultations, you will need a strong working knowledge of The Care Act 2014 and specifically a working knowledge of Adult Safeguarding aslaid out within The Care Act 2014.
  • You will need to be able to self-prioritise work and be able to manage a number of decision-based tasks each day.
  • You will be required to promptly determine if a concern meets The Care Act 2014 criteria for safeguarding duties to apply.
  • You will then need to provide guidance as whether the concern will be raised as a s42 enquiry, whether it needs to be recorded for information only or it requires another more appropriate pathway e.g.: community care and support assessment or even signpostingto another agency.
  • You will need to have experience of working at Practice Consultant/Senior Social worker level as you will be advising staff as the Adult Safeguarding expert ensuring that they understand what they need to do next.
  • Accurate and prompt electronic recording skills are key when undertaking consultations as is the ability to review and analyse electronic client records in a timely manner to help inform your decisions.
  • An understanding of the Liquidlogic Adult Social Care (LAS) recording system would be desirable, but training will be available if not.
As the team covers the whole ofthe Local Authority, they tend to work remotely, so an ability to work autonomously is also required.To apply for this role you must have:
  • A relevant Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work/DipSW or equivalent)
  • Be Social Work England Registered
  • Be eligible to work within the UK
  • Be a car driver and have access to a vehicle
