Job Description

Senior Development Chemist£30,000 - £40,000 DOENorfolkA well-established manufacturer of Personal Care & Home Care products is seeking an experienced Development Chemist to join their dedicated and enthusiastic team working on products such as skin care, body care, nail care and home care.This role will involve the development of new and existing product formulations for new and existing client accounts. You will be responsible for managing all assigned projects to ensure to meet customer requirements, product performance and safety.Key Duties:

  • Research and identify new materials and technologies for product development projects
  • Design and develop new and existing formulations
  • Be a part of coming up with the initial concept, creating innovative ideas as well as expanding on product line-ups. Present the new concepts/ideas to the wider team and potential customers.
  • Drive product development through the business including multi-functional activities, having close liaison with the customer as well as commercial team including quality, commercial and manufacturing
  • Manage the planning and execution of product testing, being assisted by the Technical Administrator
  • Provide specific documentation to assist the Technical Administrator in the preparation of Product Information Files and safety assessments for new products that are developed
  • Support the process development in scaling up of batches (training provided)
    • Key Requirements:
  • Degree qualified, or equivalent, in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science or SCS Diploma
  • Experienced in the formulation and development of personal care and household products
  • Strong knowledge of basic cosmetic chemistry, including emulsions, emollients, sunscreens and surfactants is essential.
  • Experience of the COSMOS standard
  • Be able to operate in a heavily commercial and profit orientated environment
  • Due to working with dyes and coloured products, the candidate must not be colour blind
