Job Title:Maintenance Assistant/CaretakerLocation: Quidenham, Norwich, NR16 2NZContract Type: Permanent, Full TimeHours: 40 hours per week, Mon – FriSalary: £20,000 - £22,500 dependent on experienceClosing Date: OngoingThe Aurora GroupThe Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.We are currently looking for a Maintenance Assistant /Caretaker inQuidenham, Norwichfor ourEccles School to join our maintenance team. Our school provides support for children with a variety of additional needs but primarily young people with autism spectrum disorders and social, emotional and mental health challenges. The learning environment and facilities here allow students to access a varied curriculum in a calm and nurturing environment and the team strives to give every student the confidence and opportunities to achieve their full potential.The role:Your role will be to assist in the overall maintenance of the site by ensuring that all the buildings and grounds are kept in good order, clean and ready for use.With a strong emphasis on Health & Safety; you’ll be expected to ensure that the buildings and grounds are continually fit for purpose for students and staff to enable them to fulfil their rolesYou will undertake tasks assigned to you in regard to porterage, cleaning and general grounds maintenance, and assist the rest of the maintenance team as and when requiredExperience:Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous groundsman experience
  • Experience in carpentry highly desirable
  • General maintenance experience and building services experience
  • Willingness to undertake compulsory training – including Health and Safety and potentially Level 3 Pool Plant Management
  • The ability to work alone and perform a high level of physical work (including the collection and movement of materials, equipment and furniture).
  • Good level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • Organised, motivated, ability to prioritise and a team player.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability.
  • A full driving licence.
