Job Description

Technical Engineer (Immediate Start)Red is proud to be recruiting on behalf of Europes leading of manufacturer of steel lintels and masonry support system. Based in Newport, our client is seeking Technical Engineers to join their expanding team on a permanent basis.Salary: Between £19K - £27K (depending on experience)Hours: Weekdays, 8.30am to 5.00pmLocation: Newport, WalesTechnical Engineer Duties:After a comprehensive training programme your role will consist of: -

  • Provide a planned and proactive approach to work demonstrating exceptional organisational skills, effective communication and teamwork
  • Calculate and assess loads to be imposed on internal products by analysing architects and structural engineers drawings received by post, email or fax ensuring an effective and competitive scheduling and special lintels pricing policy
  • Create a priced specification of appropriate products, ensuring technical schedules are expedited within the agreed timescale and therefore achieving targets set for the technical department
  • Prepare special lintel drawings accurately, ensuring zero complaints regarding design quality
  • Follow the drawing office procedure ensuring drawing numbers and revision text are logged
  • Answer incoming technical enquires
  • Deal with customers queries in a professional and efficient manner
  • Ensure you have an effective and close working relationship with the external sales team and with other departments and sites across the Keystone Group
  • Ensure you are familiar with relevant quality control checks, checklists, systems and procedures to be able to check the quality of your own work and work of others when requested
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and problem solving skills through the use of the Collaborative Way (training will be given)
  • To carry out other tasks as deemed necessary, that is within the job holders capability.
  • Skills Required:
  • Competent in the use of AutoCad 3D. SolidWorks would be advantageous.
  • A Degree in either civil or structural engineering.
  • Some experience in the construction industry would be beneficial but not compulsory.
  • Excellent Communication and organisation skills.
  • Competent in all Microsoft packages.
  • Graduates will be considered, starting as a trainee engineer with a 2 year progression plan to a technical engineer.

  • £19K - £17K (salary reviews after 6 and 12 months)
