Job Description

Teaching AssistantLocation: Newport, WalesSalary: £12+ per day, dependent on experienceJob Type: Term Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pmOur client is looking for a passionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with autism and associated learning difficulties. We provide a stimulating and nurturing environment for pupils aged 3-19 with Autism, pupils havea variety of needs some may be verbal, others non-verbal. The goal is to help each pupil achieve their full potential in a setting where they are valued and respected.Day to day of the role:

  • Work under the direction of the class teacher and the special educational needs and disability coordinator (SENDCO).
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with complex learning difficulties.
  • Support the assessment and recording of pupil progress.
  • Help manage behaviour and ensure the safety of pupils.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, events, and training to contribute to the wider school community.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience in supporting teaching and learning.
  • Experience working with children and young people with autism and associated learning difficulties.
  • Positive and flexible attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.
  • Willingness to learn and develop professional practice.
