Job Description

Opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to work as part of a close-knit team for a global company.Take ownership: You will get to work autonomously with the support of your line manager to diagnose and rectify mechanical performance issues while identifying areas for improvement.Excellent job security: The site is part of a large global group that employs 7,500+ people across 20 countries.Interesting and varied equipment: The site went through a large expansion a few years back to double its output replicating its existing setup with more modern equipment. You will get to challenge your engineering skills with the mix ofold and new equipment on site.Good benefits package: Private medical cover and a good pension scheme where the company will double your contribution up to 5% (5% employee, 10% employer).What you will be doing:

  • Assisting with routine functioning of equipment
  • Investigating mechanical maintenance issues and proposing solutions.
  • Working with stakeholders and other disciplines to complete repairs and breakdowns
  • Technical specification and ordering of mechanical equipment as required.
  • Involvement with Root Cause Analysis
  • Ensuring plant equipment strategies are up to date.
  • Leading the design and upgrade of mechanical components and systems from concept to installation
  • Liaising with the wider team regarding scheduled work and improvement ideas
  • Propose improvement ideas and support other disciplines with their improvement projects where necessary.
  • Work with external suppliers to obtain quotations and manage contractor activity on site.
What you will need:
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a heavy, industrial, process-driven setup
  • A degree-level qualification is desirable, HND level will be considered.
  • Experience with a range of mechanical equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, pipework, etc.
