Job Description

I am recruiting for a Cargo Surveyor for our client in Newport, South Wales.Our client is a well-established marine survey company with a long-standing reputation for providing excellent services to our clients, both in the UK and abroad, over the last 40 years.As part of their plans for further expansion, they seek ambitious, well-qualified team players to join our group of surveyors and undertake cargo inspection and marine / vessel surveys.

  • Applications from experienced surveyors, deck officers, recently qualified deck officers and port operatives seeking a position in cargo surveying with the aim of expanding their skills and developing their career would also be welcomed.
  • Other prior experience in the marine, ports and other related industries will be considered dependent on that experience.
  • You will join a team of very experienced marine professionals from a variety of industry backgrounds.
  • This is a dynamic and busy role that requires an understanding of vessels and cargo.
  • Applicants must have a high degree of integrity, be task-focused, capable of working to deadlines and must operate effectively as part of a high-performing team, as well as independently.
  • The work will consist of first line attendance at a range of survey assignments on behalf of our clients.
  • Primary tasks on survey include the accurate, precise, timely and consistent reporting of findings.
Our client operates every day of the year, and their team members work together to ensure coverage of client requirements. Whilst this role is based in South Wales, the willingness to accept short-notice domestic travel with occasional overseas assignmentsis essential.Supported by a back-office team you will report to the management and work within our team of surveyors as we grow the business. When not on-site at surveys, applicants will work mainly from home.
