Job Description

Legal Assistant/ParalegalDepartment: Family and MatrimonialTSR Legal are proud to be working with a Legal 500 firm with offices in Newport and Cardiff who now have a brand new opportunity for a Family Paralegal to join their private family team in Newport.Role Duties:

  • Act for clients in matters related to private family and matrimonial affairs, managing allocated client work in accordance with the firms standards.
  • Effectively undertake all assigned tasks and provide support to the wider department and/or firm as needed.
Role Requirements
  • Support fee earners by managing routine administrative processes and diary commitments.
  • Handle routine post and draft straightforward replies.
  • Administer filing for Matrimonial and Children matters.
  • Resolve debit or credit balances on files for closure.
  • Act in a fee-earning capacity, recording and submitting time in line with the firms policies.
  • Achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
  • Maintain and update files with relevant correspondence.
  • Arrange and attend conferences with Counsel, instruct experts, and review reports.
  • Liaise with legal representatives, including counsel, costs drafts persons, and experts.
  • Prepare document bundles for counsel, experts, and trials.
  • Attend to clients in person and on the telephone in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Greet and assist "walk-in" clients, taking initial instructions or brief updates.
  • Prepare draft bills.
  • Maintain flexibility to attend conferences with clients outside normal working hours.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all firm and client documentation and information.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested within your capabilities.
ExperienceEssential
  • Experience providing excellent customer/client service.
  • Experience supporting fee earners.
  • Experience working in the legal sector.
Desirable
  • Experience working in a legal practice in a similar role.
  • Experience with Case Management and Digital Dictation Systems.
  • Experience in the Private Family Law Sector.
