Job Description

The acquisition of German-based DIARECT AG in June 2020 established BBI as the leading provider of antigens in the autoimmune and tick-borne IVD markets.BBI Solutions is part of the BBI Group.We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Colloid Scientist to join us on a fixed-term basis at our Crumlin site.BenefitsThe salary offered for this role is competitive and makes up part of BBIs attractive benefits package, which includes:

The RoleAs a Colloid Scientist you will be responsible for production of 13 distinct colloid sizes totalling on average 10,000L of OD 1 colloid per annum.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to;
  • The manufacture of colloids and buffers following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • The completion of documentation to cGMP standards
  • The in-process (and final) quality control (QC) testing of colloids using SOPs
  • The qualification of new batches of raw materials critical to colloid manufacture
  • To complete production trend analysis data
  • To pack product using packing forms and defined procedures.
  • The analysis of customer and competitor materials.
  • The assistance with preparation of lab glassware and plastic ware
  • The stock control FG and WIP materials. Assist with stock takes.
  • The responsibility for specific departmental items of equipment.
  • Complete actions for NC/Deviation/CAPA as required
  • Maintain laboratory housekeeping
  • Training new starters
  • Involvement in Continuous Improvement projects
  • Implementation and adherence to 5S within Reagents department
  • Attendance at project meetings
  • Assistance with troubleshooting within Colloid Cell
  • Collaboration with other departments to achieve common goals
RequirementsThis role would be best suited to someone with an undergraduate degree in life sciences with laboratory based practicals/final year project. You will need to demonstrate relevant laboratory experience including use of pipettes and spectrophotometers. Understandingof COSHH and requirements of GLP would also be advantageous.If you are an internal employee applying for this vacancy you and your manager are required to complete an internal transfer form.
