Job Description

The CompanyShared Services Connected Ltd was established as a joint venture between the Cabinet Office and Sopra Steria, in 2013 as part of the Government’s Shared Services Strategy for Smarter Government programme and operates from four regional centres of excellence: Blackpool; Newcastle; Newport; and York. We deliver best in class business transformation programmes to across the Public Sector with a target to release one billion pounds of savings to the public.We have established an enviable track record in the design and delivery of large-scale innovative HR, Payroll, IT, and Finance & Accounting solutions to significantly improve efficiencies and enhance service levels across Government and Public Sector.Our clients include a number of government agencies including the Department for Work and Pensions, Environment Agency Department for Education, Ministry of Justice and Home Office as well as the Metropolitan Police Service and the Construction Industry Training Board.The Day JobAre you a strong people manager with proven experience leading a team If so we have a great opportunity for someone to join our Payroll team on a permanent basis.As a Payroll Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating and transacting a variety of admin processes, as well as responding to email queries, support to resolve escalations and assisting payroll and contact centre colleagues.If you have an understanding or a background in Payroll then that would be ideal but not essential! If you are confident that you can take your hand to anything an successful lead and develop a team then we would love to hear from you!Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that agreed processes/standards/timescales/Quality Requirements are adhered to
  • To empower, lead and develop the team and encourage communication
  • Be responsible as main contact point and support customers/colleagues to resolve internal/external and raised queries
  • Input into sharing of project experience across BPO and suggest update to BPO methods
  • Input into / implement BPO standard methodologies / initiatives (such as Six Sigma, Security, Business Continuity etc) within own area
  • Required skillsYou need to have:
  • Previous experience as a Team Leader
  • Able to influence behavior of colleagues and clients
  • Able to identify areas of weakness and recommend improvements
  • Ability to manage a budget (FTEs, overtime)
  • Ability to set and achieve performance targets
  • It would be great if you had:
  • Payroll knowledge/experience, CIPP qualified or equivalent
  • Previous experience of Team Leadership or experience in Accounting and finance environment
  • Expert understanding of relevant systems e.g. Oracle
