Available as cloud, SaaS, and on-premise solutions, our products address the needs of firms world-wide.Junior DevOps Engineer - Job summary:This position is within Viewpoint’s UK engineering team, as part of a multinational Agile-process group that is providing software solutions in a .NET/SQLServer/C# target environment. Reporting to the DevOps Manager, this is a great chance for a Graduate or Junior Software Developer to step into a full DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineering position. The Newcastle based team provides software solutions to the construction industry on a worldwide basis that include document management and collaboration, project management, building information modelling & management and mobile field operations.As a DevOps Engineer your role underpins much of the development function. You will manage our source repositories, build pipelines and delivery pipelines. These extend over multiple complex systems. You will also provision and maintain our development and test environments. Continuous improvement and innovation are at the core of everything we develop. We welcome exploration of new technologies and are open to transition to best practice.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Focus on developing automation pipelines for software releases using CI / CD technology in a modern cloud environment (Azure)
  • Work closely with Senior Platform Engineers and Software Developers (C# .Net) to automate tasks across their platforms and transform their infrastructure and software processes
  • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
  • Focus on the Development Team needs, driving incremental delivery of software that has the highest value and address areas of most risk in a timely manner
  • Work closely across the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the team delivers its commitments
  • Continuously drive improvement with yourself, the team and the department through ways of working with more agility and introducing technologies
  • Promote knowledge sharing across the team and department, ensuring that we work as closely and effectively as possible
  • Provide technical assistance to developers, testers and engineers to unify operational efforts
  • Explore concepts, ideas and new technology to create novel solutions to problems
  • Manage non-production environments for development, performance testing, and validation testing
  • Junior DevOps Engineer - Candidate Profile, Skills and Experience:
  • Computer Science / Software Engineering degree, or relevant commercial experience
  • Some software development experience - ideally C#/.Net
  • Scripting experience would be beneficial but not essential e.g. PowerShell
  • An interest and passion for DevOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Development
  • Ideally some experience with CI / CD tools
  • Ability to articulate and gain engagement for ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences - Essential
  • The ability to pick up new tools and technologies quickly
  • Ability to directly work with peer groups (spread globally)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications including documentation
  • Evidence of humility, autonomy, openness, motivation and a willingness to learn
  • A logical approach to troubleshooting, cool under pressure and a desire to not over complicate
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multitask
