Job Description

Jackson Hogg are engaged with a specialist manufacturer on the search for a HSE Manager to join the team, based in the Newcastle area.With overall responsibility for the Health, Safety and Environmental systems the role will deliver the ongoing certification and accreditation to meet the required standards. Driving continual improvement and a positive culture of change within the business,the HSE Manager will work closely with the Senior Management team to ensure legal compliance, acting as the lead professional both internally and to all external bodies.HSE Manager Responsibilities

  • Determine the strategic direction of HSE in the business and deliver priorities in conjunction with the Senior Management team for the continual improvement of the HSE programme and systems.
  • Demonstrate a strong leadership in continual improvement of the HSE approach and culture.
  • Engage and inspire key stakeholders to drive change and continual improvement in their areas of responsibility.
  • Manage a programme of internal and site audits / inspections to ensure compliance with legal requirements and carry out regular inspections to check HSE policies and procedures are being properly implemented and followed.
  • Lead on health, safety and environmental external audits ensuring these are suitably prepared for and followed up.
  • Implement ISO 45001 certification for the business.
  • Ensure all SIPP and environmental related accreditations are reviewed and maintained and secure any other accreditations which may become required.
  • Lead and manage required HSE related Toolbox talks and assist HR with HSE related training requirements.
  • Undertake client site visits to audit installation and sub-contract labour teams.
  • Lead our Net Zero journey.
  • Oversee Lift plans, RAMS and all CDM related documentation.
  • Assist with support and information for commercial tenders as required.
  • Analyse and oversee NCR data and report on trends and required action plans.
  • Lead Health Safety and Environment committee meetings
  • Ensure records are kept of near misses, accidents, and incidents to produce statistics for managers and line management as required. Liaise with regulatory authorities as required.
  • Hold regular Management Review meetings to ensure all systems are reviewed and aligned with business strategy, targets, and objectives.
HSE Manager Requirements
  • NEBOSH qualification along with proven experience of working with legally compliant systems consistent with the requirements of ISO9001, 45001 and 14001.
  • ISO Auditor trained.
  • AP61 Appointed Person Lifting Operations qualification (or similar) would be beneficial (and required once in post).
  • Strong IT skills to facilitate high level presentation compilation and delivery.
  • The role holder will need to be an excellent communicator able to influence and deliver change across all levels of the organisation as well as able to create and deliver presentations to clients and training to employees.
