Job Description

Finance Assistant

  • Job Type: Full-time, 6-9 month temp, potential for perm
  • Location: Newcastle, hybrid, 1 day in the office
  • Salary: £12.50 - 15p/h D.O.E
My client seeking a diligent Finance Assistantto join their team and take on the responsibility of maintaining thecharity’s financial records. The ideal candidate will be adept at book-keeping up to trial balance stage and ensuring theaccounting recordsare kept orderly and up-to-date within monthly accounting periods. Day to Day of the Role:
  • Undertake book-keeping tasks up to trial balance stage, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
  • Maintain both manual and computerised accounting records in an orderly manner.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external parties to obtain timely and accurate financial information.
  • Handle all finance-related documentation, including payroll, PAYE, VAT, and other statutory returns.
  • Issue and code sales invoices, as well as actively pursue debt collection.
  • Process and match purchase invoices to orders, check and process staff expense claims, and manage petty cash.
  • Prepare weekly creditor payment runs and process the monthly payroll.
  • Perform general financial administrative tasks as required.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as agreed upon from time to time.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in book-keeping and financial administration.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, PAYE, VAT, and statutory returns.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
