Job Description

About The RoleClosing Date: 22nd January 2024.Location: Community based – working across Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead areas with some homeworking elements. You will require a suitable space to complete the homeworking elements.About the roleAre you an enthusiastic, inspiring, and dedicated individual looking for a rewarding and exciting new roleDo you have a passion to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by dementiaDo you have great organisational skills, effective time management and engaging but empathetic interpersonal skillsIf this sounds like you, we’d love to welcome you to be part of our friendly and supportive Newcastle and Gateshead team!The role involves delivering one to one information and advice services both out in the community and by phone, (with a combination of working from home).

  • Providing knowledgeable, compassionate and trusted guidance and support to people affected by dementia.
  • Helping people understand dementia and how to cope with day to day living whilst preparing for the future.
  • Offering support to your clients whether this is in the clients own home, in the community, face to face, phone, letter, or email.
  • You will also assist service users to access other services, providing signposting and referrals.
  • Empowering individuals living with dementia to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives, making informed choices about their own life.
  • Networking and building meaningful relationships with a wide range of local organisations, promoting Alzheimer’s Society services to help people with a diagnosis to get referred to the service as early as possible.
About youIf you have the following, please apply:
  • Understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers.
  • An ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially is essential to providing a valuable and worthwhile service.
  • Excellent person-centred and non-judgmental communication approach and active listening skills.
  • Great organisational skills to manage your caseload of clients effectively.
  • The ability to ensure all service user case data is recorded concisely and accurately in the right systems, compliant with internal and any external standards and any key performance indicators.
  • Ideally some experience of coordinating others such as volunteers.
  • Passionate about putting people affected by dementia at the heart of everything you do, to make our service the best it can be.
  • Great networking, relationship and influencing skills.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Be able to travel independently.
