Job Description

  • This role is offered on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract.
  • The role also attracts a generous car allowance or company car + Bonus + Benefits
  • The position can be based at one of our locations in either the north west or in the north east of England, with the option to work from home several days each week.
  • Some travel to other sites in the region is required, for example to support site visits by the media and politicians.
What will I be doing as corporate affairs managerThe Corporate Affairs Manager for our northern region is a member of our 20 strong communications team that covers both external and internal communications, branding, design and videography, public affairs, sustainability and social value. The role alsoworks closely with our operational teams across the region.The successful candidate will manage SUEZs reputation and relationships with politicians, local communities and the media at the regional level, communicating our triple bottom line - people, planet, profit - approach.The role operates with a high degree of autonomy and leads on the delivery of corporate affairs strategies for the region and for contracts within the region.Key elements of the role will include:
  • Proactive and reactive media relations
  • Campaign strategy to enhance the reputation of SUEZ and its customers in the region
  • Public affairs, including political insight and analysis, briefing senior stakeholders
  • Issues management to protect SUEZs reputation
  • Internal communications to involve and engage staff across the region
  • Facilitating site visits for stakeholders and the media
  • Community engagement for planning and development projects for the next generation of recycling and waste treatment infrastructure
  • Line management of a full-time corporate affairs executive
  • Strategy development as a senior member of the communications team
What are the requirementsYou will have substantial public relations and / or public affairs experience, supported by a commitment to ongoing professional development.It would be great if you already had some knowledge of the recycling and waste management industry or of working in a similar operational environment, although this isnt essential.You must be able to demonstrate:
  • Political insight and strategic thinking
  • Experience of developing and delivering communications strategies and campaigns
  • Strong interpersonal skills, to build relationships with internal stakeholder and customers across the region
  • Understanding of effective issues management, dealing with challenging situations and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to write clear, concise and engaging copy, for a wide range of audiences and for a wide range of purposes, both internal and external
  • Line management experience
  • You will hold a valid UK drivers licence.
