Based near the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, it has great transport links.BI Developer - 12 month FTCWe are currently undergoing a modernisation of our Data and Analytical strategy to make better use of the data we generate and hold throughout the organisation. To do this we are transforming how we use and manage our business data utilising cloud architectureand tools to maximise our capabilities.A vacancy has arisen in our Data Engineering Team for an enthusiastic, experienced BI / SQL developer.We are looking for someone with experience within Data Engineering to play a key role in maintaining our on premise legacy systems. You will ideally have skills and expertise in SQL/relational databases.Key Duties & Responsibilities;* Working directly with raw data, jobs, scripts and other server dependencies in SQL Server Management Studio* Writing complex queries to gather insight data. This will be for ad-hoc reports and/or overnight snapshots to be stored on the server* Data Cleansing and data preparation* Create data sets to meet business requirements* Translate business needs into technical specifications* Testing of data pipelines, reports and scripts* Collaborate with teams of Business Analysts, Front End Developers and Customers to build and improve Data Products* Develop and update technical documentationRequired Skills & Experience* Experience in a BI/SQL Development Role* Strong SQL using one or more Relational Database Technology* MS SQL (up to 2016)* MS SQL Toolset: SSAS, SSRS* Working with large complex data sets* An understanding of database management systems and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework* Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative* Analytical mind with an aptitude for problem-solving* Agile Working practices and tools* Good communicator and able to deliver insight to technical and non-technical audiencesDesirable Skills & Experience* Background in data warehouse design (e.g. Kimball dimensional modeling) and data modelling tools* ETL Tools (e.g Matillion, ODI, SSIS etc.)* Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Power Apps)* Experience of Azure DevOps or Jira* Scripting language (e.g. Python/JavaScript)* Experience of diagramming tool such as Microsoft Visio/Draw.io/Mermaid* Understanding of online analytical processing (OLAP)* Industry experienceWhat can we offer you* Competitive rates of pay* Discretionary bonus packages* Fantastic team environment* 25% discount on holidays for yourself, friends and family* Stand-by breaks available at a discounted rate* Full trainingTo start Creating Amazing Memories with us, apply now!
