Job Description

Do you have previous experience as a Domestic Abuse Support Worker Do you want to make a difference to another persons life We have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and motivated person to work on a temporary basis within one of our ClientsDomestic Violence Advisor Schemes in Neath.You will be required to be a driver due to the floating support aspect of the role whereby you will be providing emotional and practical support to men, women and children within their homes or support accomodation who have suffered or are at risk of harm fromintimate partners, ex-partners or family members to secure their safety and the safety of their children.Domestic Abuse Support WorkerLocation:NeathHours: Full time (37.5 hours per week)You will serve as a victims primary point of contact by working with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans.Skills and experience for the role:

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field or willingness to work towards one, i.e. social care or health
  • Experience ofworking with vulnerable children and young people
  • Experience of working within the sector of disadvantaged families
  • A good team player with the ability to work on their own initiative
  • Experience of needs assessment, risk assessment and risk management
  • Experience of support planning
  • Experience of advocating for vulnerable people
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues associated with domestic abuse and its effects on families
  • Possession of a valid full drivers licence and ability to use own car for work purposes
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
