Job Description

NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) is Wales’ national IM&T strategic organisation. Its primary purpose is to create a set of information and infrastructure services that enable the provision of integrated, person-based information that can be used to join up and improve patient care across the NHS and social care in Wales.NWIS is responsible for the design, deployment and management of national Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) systems within NHS Wales and provide a range of services to the Welsh Government and NHS Organisations. The organisation is also responsible for setting the standard for health informatics professional development.We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Corporate Applications Team supporting major National software applications for the NHS in Wales.As a Support Analyst you will need excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to ensure that the systems and services you support, perform to the requirements of users and clinicians. You will be expected to provide:

  • Operational support of multiple web applications.
  • Operational support of search solutions such as Apache Solr.
  • Monitor system health daily and resolve underlying issues
  • Advice and guidance to service users.
  • Ongoing incident and problem management.
  • Create and maintain system work instructions.
  • Maintenance of document libraries.
  • Deploy and configure major software releases
  • Experience of working within a software service delivery and 2nd line support environment is essential for this post and experience/knowledge in the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Knowledge of ITIL incident and problem management
  • Development and execution of database queries e.g. T-SQL
  • Problem solving and diagnosis of root causes
  • Customer and supplier Liaison
  • NHS Clinical/Administrative Information and IT requirements
  • Delivering training to staff
