Job Description

SER are currently working with an AP on the Isle of Sheppey who are looking for a Tutor to support in their new provision from January 2024.As an Alternative Provision Tutor you must have a can-do attitude, excellent communications skills, and a nurturing approach. In addition to this you need to be able to easily engage with young people, support them to use listening skills, reflective thinkingand encourage a cheerful outlook towards learning. Flexibility is essential for this role as no two days are the same. You will be joining a committed team who make a real difference to the lives of young people.Position: TutorHours: TBC (4 -5hrs per day) 4 days per weekRate: £90 - £120pr day (depending on experience) Location: Isle of Sheppey Additional: Own transport essentialAbout the role:

  • Experience working in a SEND setting, particularly students with ADHD and ASD would be an advantage, as well as experience of restorative practice.
  • Leading engaging sessions across core subjects, including developing activities and resources to meet the need of students.
  • Supplying 1-1 support.
  • Setting targets and reporting on progress consulting with the School Lead.
  • Building strong relationships.
  • Supporting student participation and development, including resilience, social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing which is a key part of this role.
  • Experience working in a PRU, or similar alternative provision setting would be an advantage.
This position is due to start in January for successful candidates, but there is a degree of flexibility with this. Initially this will be on a long-term contract basis with the opportunity to apply for a permanent position at a later date.Please send your CV along with a cover letter to register your interest for this position.   • Be able to commit to working the hours specified above.
  • Provide an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If you do not hold a valid DBS, be willing to apply for a new DBS. The cost of a DBS is a one-off payment of £38 with an annual subscription of £13 per year to the DBS Update Service.
  • If you have been a UK resident for less than 5 years, a right to work visa must be provided and a criminal background check certificate must be provided for any country resided in for 6 months or more within the past 5 years.
  • Provide all required documentation (ID, Qualifications)
