Her personality and smile are infectious. It takes time to get to know her and to build up a relationship. She is very complex and despite her anxieties, she is determined and brave. Sometimes I find it hard to communicate what I need and therefore itis vital that a support worker is observant, patient and has good communication and listening skills so they can pick up on my subtle cues, which indicate how I am feeling. I need someone who will encourage me to use my words but also give me time to processrequests as I can easily become overwhelmed. Being actively involved in planning my day to day activities and outings help me.""I enjoy, trips out and socialising. I need someone to keep me safe when out and about. I enjoy outings to the coast/ beach, being active, walking and music. I like to be on the periphery of some activities. I like visiting local attractions, going intoEdinburgh on the bus, and further afield (pubs, cinema, shopping for pleasure, concerts, theatre, museums, galleries, events). I would like to experience new things which will enrich my life. I am quite attached to my Ipad. It helps me relax but too much timeon it isnt good for me either.""Like most people, my day varies so it is difficult to list every task that is expected of a Support Worker.
