Job Description

PURPOSE To support the delivery of the highest quality learner data management with specific responsibility for ensuring maximum efficiency in data processing.To take a lead role on automating ILR (Individualised Learner Record) production and import into related college systems, standardised data-checking, automated data-correction routines, data manipulation / interrogation and associated reports.As a member of the MIS technical team, you will be responsible for the analysis, development, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of the MIS IT systems in use across the college.You will be responsible for owning, tracking, and resolving system related incidents and requests, providing a responsive, flexible, and pro-active service. DUTIES

  • To be part of the MIS team providing data management services to all customers (both internal and external) including curriculum planning, timetabling, registers, ILR production, funding returns and resource utilisation.
  • To take a lead role in identifying efficient procedural, technical and software solutions to enhance the quality of learner data.
  • Own the development of systems solutions for the college by analysing, developing, testing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining high quality digital products.
  • Estimate workload, resources, and timescales required to complete customer-led developments.
  • Engage with system users and communicate throughout the development of systems solutions.
  • Be an expert contributor to the implementation and development of the data infrastructure to underpin systems solutions and reporting tools.
  • Use in-depth understanding of college processes to inform development of automation solutions which continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with strategic partners and IT Services team to ensure system upgrades and backups are set up and that system health is monitored, and action taken in a timely and well-communicated fashion to resolve any problems.
  • Maintain technical documentation including but not limited to version control, licencing information, server configuration and software
  • To utilise appropriate project planning tools and work with the MIS and Exams Manager and MIS team to deliver college projects and enhancements to current technologies.
  • Develop and promote working towards best practice.
  • Assist in evolving new and improved processes to meet business requirements.
  • To contribute to management discussions and decisions related to the software solutions used for MIS.
  • To contribute to the design and review of relevant policies and procedures.
  • To provide support to and work collaboratively with other members of the Funding and Information directorate team as directed.
  • Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.
  • Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.
