Job Description

Operations Support Manager - Mon to Fri - £33,000 plus bonus . Our client based in Middleton Manchester are one of Britains fastest growing multi-channel retailers of tools, accessories and building supplies . This role is based in their Middleton , ManchesterDistribution Centre so commutable from Liverpool , Blackburn, Huddersfield or Warrington .They are looking for an Operations Support Manager ( this doesnt involve running a shift ) its more of a Support Manager across all areas so lots of Compliance covering things like Health & Safety and facilities management supporting the Operations Manager within the DC salary is £33,000 days Mon to Friday .In essence 3 aspects supporting the DC Operations Manager.....

  • Looking after the facilities management of the Distribution Centre itself so eg if a Reach Truck breaks , organising getting it fixed , shutter door not working , same ( not doing it yourself but contacting the right people to get it done) taking ownershipfor these sorts of problems .
  • - Compliance so Health & safety compliance, guidelines for the staff and the workings of the DC managing the admin team in terms of compliance for temp staff and inductions for new starters that sort of thing so understanding the workings of Health & safetywithin a warehouse and DC environment eg H&S audits .
  • and finally understanding or coming from a background of a Distribution warehouse operation , someone who has run a shift in the past and if need be could step in and help if needed in an emergency . So youre not asking anyone to do something you haventdone before in this aspect of the role .
Someone who can be the enabler to get the best out of the DC in terms of quality , compliance , health & safety and also a big one - Customer service . You will be collaborating with the Shift Managers , Team leaders and operators to build good working relationshipsand a smooth operation so a good people person .Being ready for a challenge and positivity are important tooSo you would need to be mentioning Compliance and H&S within your CV if you have that experience as well .Whilst their operation works 5 in 7 this role will primarily work Monday to Friday with some cover required at weekends on very seldom occasionIn this critical operational role you will be a prime enabler for optimisation of the Distribution Centre, quality, Compliance , Health and Safety and customer service.
  • Provide direct line management of colleagues with specific tasks to support the Operations Manager
  • Mentor, coach and support team members
  • Ensure the operation is safely operating within compliance and health and safety requirements
  • Lead the site in all aspects of compliance and audits
  • Maintain the accident database including monitoring and reporting
  • Identify potential risks to the operation and formulate appropriate actions plans
  • Implementation and control of MHE training
Collaborate with shift managers, team leaders and other members of the operation to build effective working relationships and ensure a smooth flow of operationsWhat youll bring
  • Logistics expertise and inventory knowledge in a large warehouse environment
  • Energy, positive and a high level of motivation
  • Communication skills - both verbal and written with the ability to impart instruction clearly and concisely
  • Planning and organisational ability and the ability to overcome roadblocks and challenges
