Job Description

REED is currently looking to recruit a Multi-Skills & Groundworks Technician for a College in Middleton.You will take an active role in the colleges construction department. Helping with stock management, maintenance and set up for practical learning sessions. Facilitating the learning process by supporting staff and students in an effective learningenvironmentThis is a great opportunity for someone with both a knowledge of trade materials/groundworks and experience in stock management/admin.DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • To provide direct support to teaching staff by maintaining and promoting lively working environment and practices
  • To work with and ensure that staff and students have access to studios, workshops, equipment as required
  • To work with the Centre Director to offer departmental support around outstanding teaching and learning through CPD sessions, team teaching or supportive peer observation
  • To prepare and assist in activities ensuring all materials and equipment are prepared in readiness for practical sessions and retrieved after the activity has ceased
  • Maintain and repair specialist equipment and be responsible for the security of equipment and tools.
  • To assist with the supervision of students working on project work.
  • Be flexible in supporting the sections requirements and cross college tasks
  • Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge
  • Be responsible for ordering requisitions and storekeeping
  • Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Basic knowledge of trade materials for groundworks (knowledge of materials for plastering / bricklaying / carpentry & joinery / painting & decorating is also beneficial)
  • Experience in Stock management or Admin based roles.
  • Basic Level in Microsoft applications particularly Word and Excel
  • Hands on approach and aptitude to work outdoors.
  • Ability to work from own initiative and manage own workload
  • Safeguarding knowledge and understanding
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage well with learners and staff
  • Current Clear & Enhanced DBS on the update service (Beneficial)
