LWC Drinks Ltd provides licensed establishments with all their bar and sundry supplies. We aim to provide the best customer service in the industry, as well as an impressive and extensive portfolio of over 8,000 products, to over 13,500 customers.Currently, we employ over 1,000 people and have 14 depots across the UK as well as a Support and Distribution Centre based in Chadderton, Manchester.We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to join our small development team based in Chadderton. In this role, your primary responsibility will be for the maintenance and development of a bespoke software package written in COBOL running in a Unixenvironment, which performs all aspects of customer, supplier, stock and financial control, ordering (telephone and EDI), and financial control.Developer Responsibilities: Business/systems analysis Writing efficient, understandable, maintainable, and scalable code Testing and defect management Implementation Troubleshooting existing defects Providing technical support Producing appropriate documentation including program specification, test plans, implementation plans etc. Liaison with usersRequirements: Good working knowledge of COBOL Knowledge of software design and programming principles Knowledge of Unix would be desirable but not essential Knowledge of Cyberquery would be desirable but not essential Good working knowledge of full development life-cycle Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Adaptable and flexible Enthusiastic and self-motivated Excellent communication skills Ability to work as part of a team or individually Ability to work well under pressure Ability to learn new applications quickly
