Job Description

PURPOSE To work within the Safeguarding and Wellbeing team as part of the Behaviour Support team supporting behaviour management and engagement of identified groups of learners.Working directly with a targeted cohort of learners, supporting strategies and behaviour management plans to engage them positively on their program of study and in the wider college community.Support learners to understand and follow the Positive Behaviour and Attendance Policies.Work with tutors and wider college following and promoting the Positive Behaviour Policy using a trauma-informed approachTo ensure learners are safe in college and to support their wellbeing and care. DUTIES

  • To provide appropriate behaviour support for the targeted group and the individual students, thereby removing the barrier to accessing learning and increase participation and engagement in program of study.
  • Support the positive behaviour and attitudes of the group throughout their full program of study and on college campus. This may include residential activities, educational visits, enrichment activities and work experience placements when required.
  • To work within and throughout the whole program: vocational area, PACE, DST, Maths and English, enrichment activities and in unstructured times areas providing behaviour support.
  • Monitoring responses and engagement in strategies as agreed with the Behaviour Support team, reporting as required.
  • Work with support colleagues - Learning Support and Safeguarding and Pastoral team to support learners with positive engagement, behaviour, building reliance and promoting positive behaviour in line with policy and trauma-informed practice
  • To give positive encouragement, feedback and praise to reinforce and sustain the learner (s) efforts and develop self-reliance and self-esteem
  • Support tutors to in promoting independent working and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all learners.
  • Promote engagement in enrichment and other activities
  • To record, review and adapt strategies throughout the academic year using student ILP and other college systems.
  • Promote student mental and physical wellbeing.
  • To engage in continuous professional development.
  • Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.
