Job Description

Senior Mental Health Practitioner - Band 6Children and Young People’s Mental Health ServicesAn exciting opportunity has arisen within the St Helens CYPMHS Service for an experienced practitioner to join a caring and committed Mental Health Specialist Children and Young Persons Community Team.Based at Peasley Cross Hospital, the role will include direct and indirect client work as well as consultation and liaison with other professionals around the specialist clinical area of CYPMHS. The post-holder will be engaged in all levels of clinical response from urgent assessments to lower priority cases. As part of the position you will be expected to work as part of the service development and service need.The post holder will have a core profession of registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist and will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users’ choice and works alongside them and their carers to ensure they are at the centre of care planning. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills where they can work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and professionals from similar backgrounds as well as clients and their families / carers. They should be able to work independently as well as part of a closely supported team and have the ability to prioritise their work load effectively.You will benefit from:

  • You will need to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or equivalent specialist social work or OT qualification and have a proven track record of Continuous Professional Development.
  • The role will involve regular travel across multiple sites in the North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust catchment area. Therefore, the post holder must be able to meet the travel requirements of this post. Please indicate on your application how you meet this requirement.This post is subject to an enhanced with children’s and adults barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
