I am recruiting for an experienced person to work in Market Harborough as part of the Purchasing team as a buyer working Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30 and Friday 08:00 to 14:00 and this role can offer hybrid workingAs the Buyer your role is outlined below:Liaison with other departments, particularly the in-country design, commercial and construction teams, finance, non-construction procurement, logistics and executive managementMaintaining strong relationships with vendorsAssisting in large and global purchasingWorking with and assisting the UK Purchasing Manager and wider purchasing function in-countryCollate purchase requisitions to order materials, goods and supplies for approvalExpediting and following up on deliveries, with inspection where required. This will include working alongside the logistics sub-department.Updating the team about any delays or problems with suppliers on a day-to-day basisResearching new products and suppliersNegotiating credit terms with suppliersMaintain a weekly order status report, review deliveries against the orders and entering GRNsO, S, D (Overage, Shortage and Damages) supplier to be notified, replacement items or credit notes to be raised accordinglyEnsure that any invoices are sent to accounts for paymentFollow internal policies and proceduresTo be successful as the Buyer we are looking forAn experienced Buyer from a construction, groundworks, civil engineering or building supplies background with a good knowledge of material suppliers and strong technical knowledge of building products and systems would fit perfectlyStrong analytical and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths Grade C standard or equivalent) required to work with multiple vendors to determine the best deal for the companyGood negotiating skills and the ability to evaluate the many pros and cons of each submission, based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors to achieve best value for the companyDecision-Making Skills: be able to use the information gathered by yourself and the purchasing agents to make decisions on behalf of the companyRequires a high level of accuracy and attention to detailOffice Angels acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
