Youll become an important part of a small team that has diverse skills and experience but all share a commitment to support each other in what is a unique role. They work with other teams across our clientsto ensure the organisations expertise and experience is reflected in the decisions they make.The Permitting and Licensing team performs key functions under the Coal Industry Act 1994 on behalf of our client. Discharging statutory responsibilities in relation to managing access to their underground property and licensing. The team is part of theDevelopment Department that includes the Planning and Property Teams.They issue around 2100 permits per year, providing permission for investigation and remediation of coal mining legacy including mine entries, mine workings and unworked coal. They also licence underground and surface coal mines in Great Britain and regulateagreements to access their underground property for other purposes.This role is fixed term 12 monthsFor more information about the role please refer to the attached job description.About you:You will be a technically minded and team-focussed individual. Able to use your own initiative whilst working at pace and maintaining an eye for detail. You will need to be consistent in your methodology, with careful consideration of established policies,procedures and guidance. Having excellent oral and wrten communication skills along with strong negotiating skills.You will have:

  • Experience of reading and interpreting data, maps and plans
  • Experience of geotechnical engineering and site based drilling works
  • Experience of interpreting and reporting on mining legacy data
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations and people
  • Experience of geotechnical risk assessments
  • Qualified within Geology, Mining or Geotechnical disciplines
  • A commitment to progress your professional development in this area

This will mean that they can continue to livethe UK after 30 June 2021.
