Manchester council are looking for a 3 connected persons social workers who will be based in the North office, Harpurhey District Office, Moston Lane, Harpurhey, Manchester, M94DD, working on Family and Friends Assessments. Social workers do not have todo fostering experience but this will assist but if they have locality experience.Manchester Local Authority are seeking experienced Social Workers to join their Locality team to complete Family and Friends Assessments in order to support children living within their family.These roles work across the locality teams where the aim is to place Looked after Children with family members. The role will require you to carry out viability and full assessments including Special Guardianship Assessments to determine the suitabilityof family members who are potentially capable of taking on the responsibility of caring for the child/children in question.You will be working in close proximity to the allocated childrens Social Workers who are based within the Locality service as to provide a seamless transition of cases and ensure that the child has a more holistic package of care where the professionalsdealing with the case have a clear idea of the childs situation and care plan.You should have experience in carrying out Assessments and previous court work.The post is for a social worker to undertake assessments of connected persons of the children currently allocated to social workers within the authority to promote and support children to remain placed within their families or connected persons network ifthey are unable to reside with their parents. the assessments will be :Viability screening assessmentsTACP24 assessments for children to be placed temporarilyFull carers assessmentsSGO assessment .The post requires the worker to undertake assessment of the carers and also provide support alongside this where the child is already inplacement under a temporary approval in line with the national fostering standards.Their role will be complete assessment and bring this to the fostering panel for approval and support carers until handover to the connected persons long term support team. This will involve supporting the development of support plans, fostering trainingand to seek approval of the carers at fostering panel.Hold, manage and record accurately the assessment and interactions with carers and professionals .To undertake supervisory visits, provide reviews information for the review of childrens placements with the carers, support carer training and also attend court to give evidence on cases they have assessed where required to do so .Work with the team of Connected persons social worker to ensure there is a daily cover of the urgent placed TACP24 assessment.Attend permanency planning meetings and multi-agency meetings, CLA reviews and case planning meetings with the social worker. and carers.Advocating for carers and ensure they have the right support in place and ensure the delivery of unified & effective planning around placements for children & young peopleMonitor referral information; ensuring all children & young people requiring accommodation are treated equally and as far as possible ensuring their needs in relation to gender, race, ethnicity, culture, special needs, disability and education are metTaking a strength-based approach to managing situations.
