Job Description

The Company:

  • Consequently, they now require a driven, focused, high calibre EHS Manager to perform a pivotal role, leading and managing Environment Health and Safety at their North West based operation.
  • The Candidate:
  • Of graduate calibre with solid operational experience gained within a technical focused HSE role.
  • NEBOSH Diploma and ideally working towards CMIOSH or GradIOSH.
  • IEMA Environmental management qualification.
  • Experience gained within the FMCG manufacturing sector, or similar complex fast-moving manufacturing environment such as Chemicals or similar.
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving results & managing change, including the operational working practices of a multi-site manufacturing operation.
  • Operated within and familiar with implementing the principles of World Class Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodology.
  • You will be a determined, influential and inspirational leader, capable of providing impetus to the current facilities, whilst driving the business to achieve greater results.
  • Confident, persuasive, adaptable, results-orientated with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The Role:
  • Leading all Health, Safety & Environmental compliance requirements in line with legislative, regulatory, and company expectations.
  • Set the strategic EHS direction for the business and lead the senior leadership team and all employees through change to achieve a modern EHS culture.
  • Accountability for site services and security.
  • Budget holder responsibility for HSE related spend.
  • Produce capex proposals for EHS improvement project.
  • Resident expert on EHS matters providing support and advice to the extended leadership team.
  • Develop and deploy behavioural based safety programmes.
  • Develop and lead an EHS improvement programme that will deliver on leading KPI targets year on year, including analysing EHS data to identify trends for key areas of improvement.
  • Ensuring all safe systems of work, procedures and risk assessments are in place, reviewed, updated and controlled.
  • Implementing and delivering an effective internal audit programme.
  • Liaising, consulting and communicating with EHS regulatory and external auditing bodies.
  • Representing the business unit in wider group EHS meetings, training and conferences.
  • Managing the Occupational Health surveillance programme and supporting HR dealing with any health issues employees have which may affect them at work.
  • Arranging / delivering EHS training to meet current and future compliance needs.
  • Managing the incident, and hazard reporting processes.
  • Through effective coaching, ensure all incidents are thoroughly investigated, documented and root causes identified to implement robust corrective actions.
  • Ensure emergency planning is effective.
  • Manage all hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities.
  • Compile local and group-wide EHS reports and statistics for publication.
  • Manage and maintain the EHS management systems in line with OHSAS 18001 (now transitioning to ISO 45001) and ISO 14001.
  • Lead auditor OSHAS 18001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Lead on site Environmental and H&S committees.
