This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest microbiology departments in England as a Biomedical scientist/Specialist Biomedical Scientist. The Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership (MMMP) is a collaboration between Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Public Health England.Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the leading Trust for teaching, research and specialist services in the North West of England.The Microbiology delivered from the Manchester Royal Infirmary site employs around 130 staff and has a workload of approximately 950,000 specimens a year, covering major clinical specialties including respiratory medicine, transplantation, burns, renal medicine, urology & paediatrics. The department embraces all aspects of a modern clinical bacteriology services combining traditional methodologies with laboratory automation. It has a friendly atmosphere with good team spirit and offers the opportunity for you to develop personally and professionally. The department is a designated IBMS training laboratory, has an extensive quality system in operation and is fully accredited by UKAS.You must be an enthusiastic and highly motivated HCPC registered BMS with post-registration experience and understanding in clinical Microbiology. Experience of using automated and manual molecular analysers and knowledge of the methodologies and techniques involved would be desirable.You will work as part of the laboratory team, providing a high level of microbiological analysis in order to provide patients with the highest level of diagnosis and treatment.Specialist Biomedical scientist will be expected to assist in the delivery of departmental training plans and competency assessment.In return we will provide a comprehensive induction programme and you will be appraised on a yearly basis with a view to developing knowledge and skills where appropriate.The department requires staff to support the department in delivering a comprehensive Microbiology service over 7 days.
