Job Description

Transport Manager / Transport Safety Manager / EHS Manager / European Transport Manager / Dangerous Goods Safety Manager ( Chemicals, Hazardous Materials Transportation, Transport Legislation, DGSA. ADR, ICAO/IATA, IMDG Code) - Multiple Sites across Europe - Providing Transport Satefy / Dangerous/Hazardous Materials and Chemicals Expertise.Major International / Global CompanySalary - Negotiable + Excellent BenefitsFrequent travel to European and Asia Pacific locations will be required.European Transport Manager / Transport Safety Expert is required for our key client who are recognised as the World’s largest / Global leaders. The Transport Safety Expert will is responsible to provide Transport Safety leadership / management support to the company’s multiple operating sites across Europe/APAC.The Transport Manager will lead the network of sites and region-based Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers and provide professional advice and support to functional experts and site management focusing on achieving compliance with legal requirements and standards.The key responsibilities include:

  • Development of Resources (Policies, Procedures, Guidance, Training Programmes, Standards)
  • Provide subject matter expertise, support and guidance to the Site Management Teams on procedures and requirements for documentation, packaging, labelling, despatch and shipping of dangerous goods via road, rail, sea and air transport.
  • Oversee and guide the work of the DGSA network to ensure:- All sites are covered by DGSAs with suitable training and certification (including external providers where necessary)- Site audit programmes are in place covering compliance with legal requirements and company standards- Development of annual reports and improvement plans- Provision of appropriate training for site personnel involved in handling of dangerous goods
  • Work with company Logistics/Supply Chain function to ensure the competence of 3rd party contractors (hauliers, carriers) for handling of dangerous goods and suitability of operating procedures
  • Work with company Regulatory function to ensure that correct information with respect to classification, labelling, shipping documents and packaging of dangerous goods is maintained within company software systems
  • The ideal candidate will need to have the following experience / Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in hazardous materials transportation within EMEA/APAC regions, including experience in the chemicals sector.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of transport legislation and application in EMEA and APAC regions
  • Qualified DGSA. Recognised qualification in ADR, ICAO/IATA and IMDG Code regulations
  • Experience in development of policies, procedures, management tools, governance mechanisms and KPIs
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver training and coaching sessions and to build organisational capabilities
