By joining an office-based or operational function with us, youll instantly be part of a high-performing and inclusive culture, whichworks closely to support our Customer-facing teams.Job DescriptionWe are looking for a qualified accountant with a significant period of PQE gained in either a Group Finance function or top accounting firm with a strong focus on financial control.Very strong technically, and with evidence of process and systems improvement, the right candidate will be able to take complete ownership of responsibilities and lead the Group Controlling team. You will work closely with other Group and Divisional leads,to drive continuous improvement in financial control across the group.This is a great opportunity for the right individual to join our Finance department and be a part of the change we are delivering within the Rank Group. The role has a wide range of responsibilities, providing the successful candidate with a varied rolecovering a wide range of reporting within a FTSE 250 Plc.Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities:Reporting:

  • Responsible for all reporting from the Group Reporting function, including but not limited to monthly consolidated management accounts, monthly / quarterly reporting to principal shareholders, Board and CFO reports and others
Control environment and driving change in the Group:
  • Work closely with other Group Finance heads, Divisional Finance and Internal Audit to identify and deliver improvement to the financial control environment across the Group; ownership of the Financial Control Framework and Balance Sheet Assurance
  • Ensure all Finance systems are appropriate and accounting policies are applied consistently across the Group
Year end and interims:
  • Ensure completion of the Books of the Year / Interims used internally to support the Annual Report and external announcement
  • Review of external announcement (RNS) and slides
  • Review of Annual Report and Accounts, with particular focus on the financial statements and notes to the accounts
  • Oversee all technical accounting aspects, including but not limited to IFRS 16 Leases, acquisitions and disposals, impairment and provision reviews, share based payments and post-retirement benefit accounting, and other significant areas of judgement
  • Preparation of audit committee papers
  • Manage audit relationship
Statutory reporting:
  • Lead the production of all of the Groups subsidiary financial statements (UK and overseas)
  • Liaising with the Groups auditors in respect of the above processes
  • Maintenance and update of Group accounting policies in line with IFRS
  • Supporting management and business with technical interpretation of business change or corporate activities, including producing technical papers
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant: ACCAACACIMA with 10+ years PQE or equivalent
  • Strong system knowledge, ideally Dynamics 365, and experience of consolidation systems (Hyperion or Jedox)
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience of macros
  • Strong attention to detail and evidence of implementing or delivering improvement in a financial control environment
  • Strong understanding of the commercial operations of the Group to ensure Group Finance supports the strategic vision of the Group and is a partner to the business
  • Ability to plan and manage own time effectively to ensure delivery against deadlines
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of financial accountants
