A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Cancer Navigator to join the Colorectal Team here at Macclesfield District General Hospital for 18 months.The primary role for this new post is to help facilitate the implementation of Faecal Immunochemical testing (FIT) which is used to guide the management of individuals who present with colorectal symptoms. The post sits within a small team of 2 other colorectal Navigators and some cross cover will be required. The Role of the navigator is to help with patients concerns; help with non-clinical questions and signpost to other services when necessary.The Cancer Navigator will be responsible for communicating with patients and relevant departments to ensure all investigations are performed in a timely manner; either at the start of the pathway when the FIT test takes place or during diagnosis and follow-up. The navigator service works closely with the clinical teams to ensure they can provide the right support for patients and their families. The post holder will also assist the Macmillan Cancer Nurses with their daily workload as well as helping with data collection.The ideal candidate will have experience of working with or supporting patients or clients, they should have a good understanding of cancer and excellent communication skills.This post is Fixed Term for 18 monthsHours per week: 30Closing date: 7th February 2021Please be aware that this post requires an Standard with Barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which is payable by the successful candidate.If you have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years you will need to obtain an overseas police clearance.
