Job Description

Production Engineer Salary circa £50,000 - £55,000 (DOE) + benefits Location: LeicestershireAs Production Engineer for this international manufacturing business, you will join a progressive forward-thinking organisation that has developed a strong brand reputation for manufacturing excellence. This company supplies volume high quality engineeredproducts across the globe to a wide range of industrial and commercial sectors. They are now looking to recruit a forward-thinking Production Engineer who will report directly to the Engineering Manager. The position requires a strong practical knowledge ofproduction engineering gained within a medium to heavy automated processing environment. Ideally you will be apprentice trained with solid mechanical and production engineering experience with an ability to work on a wide range of plant / equipment and improvementprojects. Working with other teams across the business you will ensure high levels of health, safety and environmental compliance and promote a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.To be considered for this Production Engineering position you must have or be:

  • Working as a Plant Production Engineer, Plant Project Engineer, or Manufacturing Engineer within a medium / heavy, automated processing environment, this could include presswork, injection moulding, die casting, steel production or other heavy automatedPLC controlled continuous/batch processing plant.
    • Able to deliver projects on time and to budget ensuring the highest levels of Health & Safety that will ensure the safety and wellbeing of all employees, support a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration that promotes the wider business aims,objectives and ISO accreditation
    • A strong practical aptitude and understanding of basic engineering principles including geometric tolerancing, ability to read engineering drawings, limits and fits, hydraulics & pneumatics, and general plant installations, (power, air, water, heating,ventilation & extraction)
    • Strong problem solving ability, familiar with the use of Root Cause Analysis tools such as 5 Why, DMAIC and Fish Bone diagrams and a good understanding of modern manufacturing methods including TPM, OEE, Visual Management, 5S and SOP.
    • Ideally apprentice trained in Mechanical, Production or Plant Engineering and continued further education to ONC / HNC / HND level or above. Ideally supported by post apprenticeship experience that includes management of a range of plant, process, layout,product, equipment, and facility related projects. Use of AutoCAD and an understanding of basic machining and fabrication processes would useful.
    • Excellent communication skills, setting high standards and leading by example, with a tenacious approach to continuous improvement and project management that will ensure projects are completed on time and to required standards in a controlled and safeenvironment.
  • A hands-on results oriented approach with a driven personality, capable of building build robust working relationships across the company and with suppliers able to work effectively at all levels from shop floor to senior management.
