Product Manager Optical Sensors

Job Description

I am working closely with my market leading electronics OEM client to recruit experienced Product Manager. This opportunity to join their in-house Sales Team has been created through continued growth and increasing demand for their range of products and turnkey solutions. They supply a wide range of industries with measurement and monitoring instrumentation, with this role specifically focusing on their Optical Sensors.Based at their modern manufacturing European HQ in the East Midlands, into which the company is continuing to invest significantly as it has over recent years, this customer-facing role will involve you being the link between the company and their customers as the technical authority.You will need to be able to learn about and understand the variety of products and systems which the company can offer (after in-house training) in order to recommend the most suitable solutions to meet customer requirements. This will include off the shelf standardised products, modifications to these, as well as bespoke solutions. The latter will involve working closely with their in-house R&D team to develop and commercialise NPDs and NPIs. The company is also increasing their focus on customer aftersales care for maintenance and calibration services, as well as to encourage repeat business.Candidates must have a technical or technological background from education (i.e. hold a technical degree-level or equivalent qualification in subjects such as electrical engineering, electronics, product design, industrial design, technology, etc.) and/or relevant industry experience, in addition to previous sales experience.Applications are invited from Product Managers, Technical Sales Engineers, Technical Specialists, Product Specialists, as well as R&D Engineers who have a commercial background.This business-critical role can be surmised as one that requires extensive liaison internally with members at all levels up to senior management within Sales, Marketing, R&D and Production Teams. Candidates who are currently and/or have previously worked within sectors that focus on electronics / electrical engineering such as sensors or measurement instrumentation are of particular interest.Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role. Equally as important is the ability to work well in a team.This role will involve both domestic and overseas travel to visit customer sites for meetings and attending trade shows, so a driving licence and passport are highly desirable.
